I love Austin. We have so many awesome people, events, and cultural activites to do there is literally, always something going on. We should be the city that never sleeps (for longer than 6 hours at least) lol. Anyway, this weekend is a perfect storm (much like last weekend during Halloween) of great weather, events-a- plenty, and beautiful people to go with. I’ve known FunFUnFUn Fest is coming up for a while, just havent made any (actual) plans, although i may very well pop in anyway. I personally would love to check out L.A.X, Cool Kids, Kid Sister, and whole lot more. Sooo…guess i need to look at those tix asap huh?
Also tonight (Friday) we’ve got The FunFUnFunFest pre-party thrown by CherryPeelMusic , DO512.com, and KnuckleRumbler at the Scoot Inn. Its a $5 entry w/rsvp otherwise $8 at the door (flyer posted above).

PLUS i just found out about a big party for former Ut alumni & Oakland Raider Michael Huff’s birthday at the Phoenix on Colorado. It’s called Triumph and is hosted by TeamBBC and Envy magazine. I overheard something about “celebrities and models in the moshpit” on someone’s twitter feed so you can already guess we’ll be right in the center of it all!! haha
And on top of THAT we’ve got Jericho1 in his Friday night Residency on the rooftop at The Speakeasy on 5th and congress!? maaaan..I can predict a long night and an even longer morning sleeping this tonight off…lol

Here’s a few (crappy) pics of the Jet show from my camera phone.
They did a great job and did a pretty long set too (i wanna say around 2 hrs with a 30 min break in between?). Jet is a great party starter band and although i heard voices of dissent, i was actually suprised by how reasonable the Bud Light Golden Wheat was. Lots of people in the crowd, and good music.

There will actually be a good amount of free shows and parties coming up pretty soon, another reason i LOVE the fall in Austin!! Friday, Oct.22 Bud Light & C3 Presents (the promotions company that throws ACL every year) will host a free show in the parking lot on 4th and Colorado, across from Six Lounge and Truluck’s. The act they are presenting is the world renowed party rockers JET-famous for their 2003 single “Be My Girl“. Its one of many promotional concerts that Bud Light is sponsoring to get the word out on their new “Bud Light Golden Wheat” beer-which im curiously interested in tasting for some reason. Its free admission and sale of alcohol benefits local health provider HAAM.
Sounds like a fun excuse to get out in this great weather and drink in the middle of the street! lol see ya there

So i saw this on local socialite Jen Shoemakers Twitter feed and it looked like something worth checking out. On Thurs, Oct 22nd Do512Austin & The Phoenix will host a social party celebrating Austins (top) 500 movers and shakers dubbed ” A Swanky Social-for the movers and shakers of Austin “. Now in what industry(s), who voted and who these “movers and shakers” are, it doesn’t say,but it seems to have a pretty large crowd interested and it’s for a good cause,so i think it’ll be worth the $5 donation price to check it out. It seems like a great networking opportunity for those of you who have a project or business you would like to promote, plus they’ll have some great drinks and hors’deouvres by Titos vodka,Sweat Leaf Tea (mmmm) Mama Fu’s, Franks Hot Dogs, and many many more!! You must RSVP for entry though.

On Thursday Oct. 15 The Austin Chronicle and ScreenBurn at SXSW will host a fun filled night of video games, raffles, and drinks as they bring together gamers (and fans) of all stripes and ages for GameOn Austin.
There will be a Rock Band tournament, a 2010 SXSW interactive badge giveaway, and many local indie video games companies will be showing off their latest work. I know the Midnight Society Gamers will be there (likely in a Tecate fueled stupor) challenging any oncomers; so grab your controller and lets go!

So i saw part of this documentary about a year ago on PBS/KLRU when i was picking up a friend to go to the movies. I wanted to stay and finish it, but we had to make it to the theater. Dont even remember what movie it was, but i was waaay more interested in watching this, lol :( Regeardless, im glad AustinEavesdropper found and posted it. This one is a 5 minute mini documentary that i believe is taken from a 30 min episode. Its really cool to see how these small town guys developed and where they got their influences from. Now they’re rocking stages in front of 5000 man crowds!! Their stage show is not to be missed and “Sad Sad City was my theme song for the Wharehouse District last year! Check it out.
